Étienne Renzo - Lives and works in the South of France
Born in Marseille, Etienne Renzo has been a photographer since the mid-1970s.
He currently lives and works in the Buech Valley in the Hautes Alpes. He has worked in event photography, corporate photography and aerial photography. He has also been a farmer, pilot, mechanic, business manager, foundry worker and local elected representative.
He began teaching himself photography at the age of 14 with his parents' Kodak Retina camera. Later, after completing his training in metallurgy, he set himself up as a professional industrial and advertising photographer in 1975.
As a teenager, he began by photographing scenes from his everyday life. These scenes brought him closer to intimacy, a subject in itself, which he found essential and characteristic of his work.
His experiences in various places and professions, multimedia, live performance and dance, agriculture and livestock farming, mountains and forests, aviation, and arthouse cinema have shaped his vision and his passion for images.
Once again a professional "author photographer" since 1999, this photography is a necessity that has taken shape in portraiture, a taste for skin and bodies in the midst of nature, voluptuousness. But also trees, landscapes, the other and elsewhere. Sometimes even mystery.
